Land topography and a wedge shaped site provided both a challenge and opportunity in the design phase, with the aim to create a comfortable, modern living space that takes advantage of ocean views, affords privacy to and from neighbours, and optimises passive solar aspect. The simple raking roof form, garden and careful detailing were inspired by contemporary Japanese design and the layout includes a separate garden house for guests.
